I hear a lot of people crabbin that we should get out of IRAQ ASAP. That would be a huge mistake. Now granted, I think the White House has held back and thus screwed this up a little, but that can be fixed if we take the muzzle off our proud military and let them do the job they are trained to do...KILL and CONQUER. They should not be used as a police force, and that's what's getting them killed.
War is nasty, let's make it less nasty by getting it done quick. Some of you question our motive for being there..was it OK to have a man in charge killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people of his own with Sarin and Ricin Gas? Was it OK that he attempted to take over a sovereign nation of Kuwait? Just because he was quiet, doesn't mean he's innocent. That's usually when something really nasty is about to happen. Iran has been somewhat quiet lately too. In fact I heard two years ago that Iranians were crossing the border into Iraq to stir up trouble, but it only makes the media last week.
Did it ever occur to anyone that Iraq is the perfect place to setup shop and keep tabs on the bordering and troublemaking countries like Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Yemen. Digest that one for a bit. Keep your enemies close so you know what they are doing.
National Security extends past our borders-which we need to work on as well-and that is another discussion I will address soon.
So, a lot of people have forgotten what happened on September 11th, 2001, and in 1993, when the World Trade Center was first attacked under the Clinton presidency-which we nothing about and got hit again on the USS Cole, which again, we did nothing. It wasn't until our embassy got bombed in Africa, that we decided to upset the Chinese by bombing one of their factories--Huh?? yea I know.
Did you know we have stopped at least 5 planned major attacks in this country since 9/11. I didn't either until I heard on Adam Corrolla's show last year from the guy who was the inspiration for that 9/11 movie that was on NBC this past year as well. Apparently, one was pretty major and aimed in Los Angeles about two years ago. It would only take one Starbucks getting obliterated to get this country back on edge, and that's a sad statement.
We need to support our troops and their families who have lost a loved one, but let's not dishonor their memory-my dad's included from Vietnam era-by pulling out with our tail between our legs and saying to the world--hit me, I'll just quit
